Books

Here is a list of a few books I have enjoyed reading, in no particular order:

Books about travel, the outdoors, survival, interesting people, etc:

An Island to Oneself by Tom Neale

The fascinating story of Tom Neale (1902-1977) of New Zealand who spent much of his life in the Cook Islands in the South Pacific as a shopkeeper after leaving the navy. Later in life, he followed his dream and lived alone on the island of Anchorage in the Suwarrow atoll, a remote island in the South Pacific. He stayed there all in all for 16 years, in three sessions. He first went there in 1952 for a few years, then twice again. The book chronicles his first two stays.
Living off the land, far away from any civilization, and totally alone is not for everyone. I found this intriguing and fun book to read.

Vagabonding: An Uncommon Guide to the Art of Long-Term World Travel by Rolf Potts.

World travel is not just for the wealthy. This book is a guide on long-term or extended travel and touches on things such as financing, working overseas, volunteering, life on the road, and more.
